A win for our Clients! As the #1 Brokerage in the US by volume, and the largest now by agents (thanks to the purchase of Coldwell, Better Homes, Sotheby's, Century 21 etc.) that means we ALSO have the leverage to STAND UP for our clients against unethical or unfair practices from the National Association of Realtors (at times), the Washington Association of Realtors (at times), and now Zillow. If you weren't aware, Zillow had been hiding or prioritizing listings you as a Buyer look for, or hiding your own listings as a Seller in searches, based on agents who pay for priority placement and banning listings altogether (for example, an elderly client of ours did not want her home publicly listed during a certain period of time while she was home alone, and because Zillow did not make any money off these "exclusive" listings (sometimes referred to as "private listings" or "off-market") when her home DID come on the MLS, Zillow refused to display it and even when corrected, they buried it under many "sponsored" listings). Now that COMPASS has patterned also with REDFIN for exclusive MLS display across the nation - Compass.com or Redfin.com is your best home-search tool and does NOT hide properties from you. Thankfully after this lawsuit win, neither does Zillow. Hopefully. Fighting for our Clients. 😔 No other state has a law like this. If you’re a buyer or seller in Washington, SB 6091 would limit your options and reduce the homes available on the market, particularly harming vulnerable groups like low-income and elderly citizens. By restricting the freedoms that exist for home sellers and buyers in every other state, SB 6091 removes the inherent rights of Washingtonians to choose how to buy and sell their homes. It only stands to benefit out-of-town corporate interests that already take homes away from hard-working Washingtonians. 😔 🫡At Compass, we will continue advocating for Washington buyers and sellers to have the same flexibility to choose how to buy and sell their homes as in every other state. Thank you for your continued support - there are many reasons I left the NAR monopoly of smaller franchises focused on "traditional ways of doing real estate" - this is one of them.
