Oliver Miller, student of Broadview Elementary and now Oak Harbor Elementary third grade, won the 2023 local VFW Veterans Day Essay Contest, and then won 1st place regionally and was awarded a signed certificate, medal, ribbon and $50. Well done Oak Harbor School District teachers (OHSD) for preparing our students academically ❤️ and well done Oliver for your hard work and patriotism! 🇺🇸 Thank you to our local Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post for your support to our community, the students, and the investment into all of our lives! 🫡

The formerly known "Coupeville Indian Water Carnival" now "Penn Cove Water Festival" continues to draw crowds upwards of 10,000 to the bustling little sea-side village of Coupeville, Washington on beautiful Whidbey Island. As one of the oldest towns in the state, and the only venue for the racing circuit not held on tribal land, this is the earliest-known recording of this wonderful event. Bill filmed this roughly 1933 and the event had its first year in 1930. The Penn Cove Water Festival features the famous canoe (or dragon boat) races, parades, vendors, dancing, music, and the traditional baking loaves of breads by the local merchants to award to the canoe racers. 😔 No other state has a law like this. If you’re a buyer or seller in Washington, SB 6091 would limit your options and reduce the homes available on the market, particularly harming vulnerable groups like low-income and elderly citizens. By restricting the freedoms that exist for home sellers and buyers in every other state, SB 6091 removes the inherent rights of Washingtonians to choose how to buy and sell their homes. It only stands to benefit out-of-town corporate interests that already take homes away from hard-working Washingtonians. 😔 🫡At Compass, we will continue advocating for Washington buyers and sellers to have the same flexibility to choose how to buy and sell their homes as in every other state. Thank you for your continued support - there are many reasons I left the NAR monopoly of smaller franchises focused on "traditional ways of doing real estate" - this is one of them. It's happening! Like Rome in its conquests - Compass has officially announced it's acquisition of ANYWHERE by the end of next summer (Coldwell, Better Homes and Gardens, Century 21, Sotheby's, etc.). And like Rome - COMPASS will continue to allow it's subjects to maintain their own identities, culture and gods - as long as they pay their taxes (agents to owners through their imposed "splits" or "plateaus", owners to Compass). This combines the #1 real estate brokerage in the nation (thank you clients!) with one of the highest performing real estate conglomerates on Wall Street - effectively doubling the funding and profit available to COMPASS, it's shareholders, back to the real estate agents at COMPASS, and ultimately, back to YOU, the Client. I am living through a transition much like Paper MLS's to the Internet - those led by fear and disbelief were left holding the real estate yellow-pages. 👉As a Client - give us a shot and see why we are #1.
